Chocolate Fudge Icing Supreme

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1/4 to 1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Combine all ingredients except vanilla extract in a 3-quart saucepan. Bring to a boil and cook 2 minutes, or until soft-ball stage is reached. Stir in vanilla extract. Remove from heat and beat frosting with an electric mixer until creamy. Frost cooled cake immediately or icing will harden.
