Melt-in-Your-Mouth Rib Eye Steaks

3 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 rib eye steaks
1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
2 tablespoons butter

Heat oven to 450 degrees F.

Heat oil in oven-proof skillet. Sear seasoned steaks well only on one side, about 2 minutes. Carefully transfer skillet to hot oven without turning steaks. Bake about 12 minutes, to desired doneness.

Put on plate crusty side up, and add a pat of butter to top of each steak. Serve with or without steak sauce.
