Beef Recipes S-Z
Steak with Mustard Sauce
The sauce also compliments broiled pork chops or chicken.
1 pound beef sirloin steak, cut 1 inch thick
3 tablespoons mayonnaise or salad dressing
2 tablespoons Dijon-style mustard
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Slash the fat edge of steak at 1-inch intervals without cutting into the meat.
Place steak on an unheated rack in a broiler pan. Broil steak 3-4 inches from
heat for 7 minutes.
Meanwhile, for sauce, in a small bowl stir together mayonnaise or salad
dressing, mustard, and lemon juice. Set aside.
Season steak with salt and pepper. Turn meat using tongs. Broil 6 to 8 minutes
more for medium doneness. Season again with salt and pepper. Brush woth some of
the sauce. Broil 1-2 minutes more. To serve, thinly slice steak. Pass the
remaining sauce.
Makes 4 servings.
