Instructions
Preparation Steps
In a mixing bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk and egg until blended.
Gradually stir the wet ingredients into the dry mixture until just combined.
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Spoon about 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet, cooking until golden brown on both sides.
Continue until all batter is used, keeping hoecakes warm in an oven.
Notes
Serve with butter and honey for a sweet touch. These hoecakes pair well with fried chicken!
